first, I review my schedule and gather all my supplies. I always pack enough clean linens for each appointment PLUS an extra set and extra pillowcase. Then of course there's the oils and I usually carry a small essential oils set. I have created my own kits for relaxation, pregnancy, postpartum, and fertility massage. And of course, I pack up my massage table and pillows for bolstering. It may seem like a lot, and I get asked often if it's heavy, but it's not really -- more awkward getting through narrow spaces than actually heavy for lifting. Or I've just gotten use to it.
Next, once everything is loaded up, I'll look over my schedule AGAIN. This time to review client intakes, notes from previous massage, travel routes and traffic, etc. I also input addresses and miles into my log for taxes. At this point, I'm all set to leave with some time to spare for a quick drink and a snack.
Finally, I'm off to give you all some great massages. Arriving to set up the massage table, doing a quick review of your intake and/or goals for the session, washing my hands, and allowing you to enjoy your massage. When your session is done, I clean up and make sure everything is back in its place (if I had to move anything to make space for the table), wash my hands again, go over goals for next session, and take care of payment and rescheduling if not already done. Then I'm off to the next appointment!
In between sessions, I'll jot down some quick notes in your file so I can add detailed notes later. Sometimes, I'll also have time to send quick responses to text and Facebook messages. Replying to emails and voicemails are usually done before or after ALL the appointments are done to allows for enough uninterrupted time.
That's what massage days look like on my end. Not super exciting but so worthwhile for me to leave you feeling better than when I arrived.
