So you're expecting to birth a new family member sooner than you're probably ready. And maybe you already know the benefits of a soothing massage from your pre-pregnancy days. But now you’re being inundated with list after list of things that you can and can’t do during your pregnancy; things that are good for your baby’s development, and things to avoid to keep your baby healthy. Suddenly, every part of your routine, and everything you do is in question: Is this healthy for my baby? Pregnancy can be a tiring job-- your body is legitimately working overtime. And you totally deserve some pampering to relieve those aches and pains and to just unwind. But is massage the best way to do that? Can you get a massage while pregnant? Are you putting your baby at risk, or are you benefiting your baby by taking care of yourself? |

Belly binding is a postpartum practice performed in many cultures all over the world is some variation. For the cultures that do this practice, it is an important part of the postpartum healing process. Most see birth as an experience of "opening" the body and the binding is seen as a necessary step in "closing" after birth is complete. It is restorative for the womb space by providing support while regaining core strength and organs displaced during pregnancy move back to their pre-pregnancy positions.
What is Bengkung? The Bengkung is the most widely known and used form of belly binding from in "confinement" periods, hailing from Malaysian tradition. It used a long strip of fabric to carefully compress the belly, covering from the pelvis and over the lower ribs. It is very beautiful and flexible in the way it is wrapped and can be worn over or under clothing. I prefer this style over commercial girdles as it is wrapped to your body shape while offering snug support. *This is not a weight loss product or a waist trainer.* It is merely a supportive aid.
So, use coupon code BDAY2015 to receive 30% off anything in my little online store. Beware, some "products" are in limited quantities like the number of spaces available per class and mini-retreat. The coupon code is only valid for 2 weeks, starting December 14th thru December 28th! My actual birthday falls halfway in those 2 weeks 😉 . So, I have been wanting to offer more for postpartum care than just my signature postpartum massages. I recently completed a training called The Art of Sacred Postpartum and I'm so excited to offer this service to the mamas here in Colorado Springs (and nearby, of course). Here's a little sneak peek at what will be offered.
In Eastern medical practice, the womb is considered important in a woman's overall health. Pregnancy is a "warm" condition, but childbirth is considered "cold" therefore postpartum care focuses on re-warming the system to promote healing. Hence the term "mother roasting"... |
