The entire pregnancy and birth process is about "opening" spiritually, mentally, and physically. This makes "sealing", or closing, the end of birth process important in holistic healing to avoid remaining raw and vulnerable. Then you are able to fully step over the threshold from maiden to mother. All sealing ceremonies and packages include an Herbal Stone Abdominal massage, Binding service, and a postpartum tea preparation. Performed in the privacy and comfort of your own home! The Herbal Stone Abdominal massage is performed by using a heated stone, wrapped in an herbal bundle and duped in warming oil, to massage the abdomen to promote womb healing and relieve tension. |

So, I have been wanting to offer more for postpartum care than just my signature postpartum massages. I recently completed a training called The Art of Sacred Postpartum and I'm so excited to offer this service to the mamas here in Colorado Springs (and nearby, of course). Here's a little sneak peek at what will be offered.
In Eastern medical practice, the womb is considered important in a woman's overall health. Pregnancy is a "warm" condition, but childbirth is considered "cold" therefore postpartum care focuses on re-warming the system to promote healing. Hence the term "mother roasting"... ![]() Last summer, I attended the Sacred Pregnancy Instructor training retreat in Crestone, Colorado. It was the first time I ever "sat-in-circle" with other women. Like we literally sat in a circle, going around contributing to the conversations and sharing experiences. Which was another first for me, I usually have a hard time just opening up in a group setting like this. It was initially intimidating - I usually observe, never really one to initiate or volunteer things about myself. But this in itself was surprisingly therapeutic in a way, and quite beautiful and intimate, and actually pretty easy to fall into. There was something about Sacred Pregnancy that pulled at me in the first place, and after the first day I realized this was it. Plus, I got to experience it firsthand as a pregnant mama! And I want to share it with other pregnant mamas too. Last year, shortly after finding out I was expecting my second child, I came across the book Sacred Pregnancy by Anni Daulter. I was looking for something different for my experience this time around and immediately realized this was it. It's not your regular "getting ready for childbirth" book. As I was getting into the book and comfortable with my pregnancy, I found out about the Sacred Pregnancy classes and that there was the instructor training coming to Colorado. Of course I jumped at the opportunity.
We planned a home birth and I wanted to have the best environment possible welcoming our littlest into the world. In the book, each week highlights something special in getting in tuned with your body and baby. The retreat and training, however, was great in creating a shared environment and holding space for some of the tasks in creating a sacred pregnancy. I came away feeling really connected with my baby and confident in what my body was capable of. |
