In Eastern medical practice, the womb is considered important in a woman's overall health. Pregnancy is a "warm" condition, but childbirth is considered "cold" therefore postpartum care focuses on re-warming the system to promote healing. Hence the term "mother roasting"...
What is the traditional Bengkung Belly Binding?
This is the traditional Malay belly compression binding method for after childbirth. A full abdominal and back support to help your body return to it's pre-pregnant state. This service will include the binding kit, instructions on how to continue to do the bindings, herbal belly firming paste, and 3 additional re-wrap sessions. Additional re-wrap sessions may be purchased. After vaginal delivery, the binding can be started at 5 days postpartum; after C-section, we will start the binding after 4 weeks postpartum to give the surgical site time to heal. The bindings are worn for up to 12 hours at a time.
What about V-Steams?
Mama sits over a specially designed sauna and herbs are added to either hot stones (dry steam) or water (wet steam), then mama is wrapped in blankets, one for the lower half and one for the upper half of the body. This is performed after approximately 3 weeks postpartum (after bleeding has stopped), and the session is 20-30 minutes long. Some of the benefits of postnatal v-steams include: reduces uterine swelling, enhances healing of tears/cuts, reduces itching and possibility of infection, and helps cleanse and deodorize vaginal area. This treatment is also helpful in regards to fertility issues, irregular or painful periods, uterine fibroids, and overall reproductive health.
