General FAQs

1. What are the benefits of perinatal massage?

Perinatal massage offers a wide range of benefits for expectant individuals. It can help reduce stress, alleviate pregnancy-related discomforts, improve circulation, promote relaxation, and enhance overall well-being. Our specialized perinatal massage services are tailored to support you during every stage of your journey, from fertility to postpartum.

2. What is perinatal/maternity massage session?

Perinatal is considered from the time you become pregnant and up to a year after you've given birth. I use "maternity massage" to also include anyone trying or planning to become pregnant, to encompass fertility massage along with prenatal and postpartum massage.

3. Is travel included in the cost of in person sessions?

Yes, travel is included in the cost of your perinatal massage sessions and in-person doula visits. I provide outcall massage services, so I'll come to your location within Colorado Springs and the surrounding area at no additional charge, up to 25 miles from 80922. Outside of that may incur a small excessive mileage fee.

4. Can I book individual appointments instead of opting for a full package?

Yes, you have the flexibility to schedule single appointments. However, it's important to note that our packages are thoughtfully curated to maximize the benefits for you. Many alternative and complementary therapies, such as massage, herbal remedies, and nutritional adjustments, often yield the best results with regular and consistent use. While single appointments are available, our packages are designed to provide a more comprehensive and holistic approach to your wellness journey.

Massage Services FAQs

4. What is the difference between perinatal massage and regular massage?

Perinatal massage is specially designed to address the unique needs of expectant individuals. It focuses on supporting you during pregnancy, postpartum, and other perinatal stages. I am trained in perinatal techniques and safety measures to ensure your comfort and well-being throughout your journey.

5. What can I expect during Fertility Massage?

Fertility massage is both relaxing and therapeutic. It involves a combination of techniques, including deep abdominal massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, acupressure, and myofascial release. This series of massages is recommended for at least three months for maximum benefits.

6. Are there times when Fertility Massage should be avoided?

Fertility massage is beneficial at most times, but it's best to avoid it after ovulation if you're actively trying to conceive. Also, if you become pregnant, deep abdominal work during the first trimester is not recommended without your doctor's approval.

7. How will I be positioned during prenatal massage?

During a prenatal massage, you'll be positioned on your side with bolsters and pillows for support. This allows access to your back and other areas that require massage. Rest assured, you will always remain properly draped except for the area being massaged.

8. When should Prenatal Massage be avoided?

Most low-risk pregnancies can receive massage safely at any trimester. However, if you have specific high-risk factors or conditions like pre-term labor, pre-eclampsia, or severe edema, it's advisable to consult your doctor before scheduling a prenatal massage.

9. When can I start receiving postpartum massage?

For mothers who delivered vaginally, you can receive postpartum massage as soon as you're comfortable, usually within the first week or two after delivery. If you had a cesarean birth, it's best to wait at least six weeks, with clearance from your surgeon, before receiving postpartum massage.

10. How will I be positioned for Postpartum Massage?

You can lie on your belly during postpartum massage. We provide extra support cushioning if needed, ensuring a comfortable experience. If lying face down isn't comfortable for you, we can use a side-lying position with pillows, which is also suitable for those healing from a cesarean birth.
